Rainbow

Friesland Foods arrived in the GCC region before the massive changes that came with the oil boom. Through largely primitive distribution channels, the Dutch dairy multinational succeeded in winning over local consumers with Rainbow Evaporated Milk.

During long overland journeys that often involved transportation by camel cans of Rainbow Evaporated Milk could be relied upon not to break. They were also safe to store even without refrigeration.

Within only a few years of Rainbow's launch in the Middle East the Arabic name 'Abou Khos' was introduced. By the late eighties Rainbow was the region's leading brand with a consistent annual growth rate.

The continuously expanding portfolio of products from Rainbow include Evaporated Milk, Sweet Condensed Milk, Instant Milk Powder and Ready to Drink Milk. In December 2006, Rainbow entered a new category of Growing-Up-Milk powders in a delicious vanilla flavour for babies in the 1-3 year age group.
