These R&D centers also act as the scientific 'portals for the world' in order to connect external expertise to our own knowledge.
The R&D activities of Friesland Foods are decentralized, each development centre having a specific focus area, and are strongly supported by a Corporate Research department. At our Research and Development centers about 280 talented employee's work daily for and with our Operating Company's worldwide.
Friesland Foods R&D Leeuwarden develops long-life liquid and powdered dairy products, the related technology and packaging to support Friesland Foods units in Europe, Middle East, Africa and South-East Asia. Main product categories are; enhanced nutrition, evaporated and sweetened condensed milk, UHT drinks etc
R&D Leeuwarden is organized in 3 development departments ie Product & Process Development Liquid, Product Development Powder and Packaging Development. These departments are supported by a General Affairs department, which provides technical services and also operates the professional equipped pilot plant.
